Developments in Shipston

After Saturdays fun filled day of rugby at London Irish, it was the development squads time to shine away at Shipston.

11 players braved the cold wind and occasional hail showers, including one or two of the A team players, who clearly hadn't had enough rugby the day before!

It was decided to play 2 games, thus giving the players the maximum game time.

Game 1.
As the last couple of weeks have shown, given the opportunity, our development team raise their game. From the first whistle the press defence worked well, rucking was fantastic and off loading superb. Despite the very small pitch they found space out wide, with the likes of Jack Lane, Will Mullen, Ollie Wycherley and Tia Moulton probing for gaps. While the likes of Birthday boy Geordy Wright, Will Parkinson, Tom Davis and Josh Tipping Lane carrying the ball well into contact. Replacements Tom Merrall, Aimee Tipping Lane and Max Aris all came off the bench to help the secure a good win.
The scoreboard ticked over at regular intervals, with Ollie W helping himself to 4, Jack Lane scooting in for 1 and Tom Davis powering over for a well taken try. Shipston scored two good try's, to leave it 6-2 to Evesham.

Game 2.
Shipston took to the field after a short break, with several changes, and with renewed vigour taking the game to their visitors. Good tackling and counter rucking from both, meant scoring opportunities were kept to a minimum.
However, as ever Ollie W either finds space out wide or bulldozes his way through the middle. It was the former that resulting in his 5th try of the day.
Shipston continued to knock at the Evesham try-line, and were rewarded with a try middle way through the second half. That's how it finished. 1-1, a fair reflection on a keenly fought game.

Man of the match was awarded to Geordy Wright for good aggression in the ruck.
