Rugby mums take over the match reporting

We went to Halesowen for a good old chat on Sunday whilst the boys were doing something or other to get muddier than an advert for Ariel – THAT is going to take some getting out at anything below 60⁰. Indoors the tea was hot, a very good selection of cakes from your classic fruit cake by the slice, fairy cakes and some delicious looking Victoria sponge were well presented and very reasonably priced. Obviously home made.

Game 1

Evesham’s first game was against boys of more or less the same size in noir and bottle green, Ledbury is it ? There was a lot of running about, first one way, then the other, lots of children on the ground, then standing up, then on the ground again. It finished 1 of those try things each, someone said. Game Highlight – Mrs Aris cheering at the top of her voice ‘Come on Redditch’.

Game 2

This time the opposition were wearing a Cath Kidston creation in blue, yellow and red, very pretty against the lush green of the pitch. Old Hals ran about much like the last lot, Mrs Wycherley’s little boy in Goal Attack (GA) or something put the ball down at one end a few times, couple of others did the same, probably, don’t think the Cath Kidston team did, but to be honest we were onto Downton by then so they could have rolled up the pitch and gone home and we would not have noticed. Game Highlight – Mrs Witheford’s fucia welly (mid calf, buckle sided) letting in water like an Italian cruise ship.

Post match interviews

Mrs Aris – ‘This isn't Redditch ?’
Mrs Tinson – ‘I recorded ‘Strictly’, DON’T TELL ME WHAT HAPPENED’
Mrs Witheford – ‘My foot is wet and I am cold’
Mrs Hopkins – ‘Everything was just lovely’
Mrs Wycherley – ‘The forwards did a good job clearing out, I would have liked to see more aggression from the centres to attack the gain line. We need to move the ball through the hands more and run some support lines at angles which catch the defender on the wrong shoulder’
