Sponsored walk on Sunday, the 'Red Rose Ramble' on Valentine's Day, 7 miles does not sound a lot but add 600ft of ascent and mud sucking at boots like chewed toffee clings to a filling you have yourself a 3hr 45 min workout.
An impressive turnout of 12 players plus 21 assorted parents and siblings and 5 dogs, 86 legs in total, scaled the hills of Winchcombe and enjoyed panoramic views of Winchcombe village, the Sudeley Valley and far beyond. The weather was glorious for what was a busy morning navigating the footpaths and stiles, keeping an eye on the stragglers and Geraint away from the sheep.
Player Roll Call - JSD, Cake, Carpet, Bretty, Hagrid, Dick Tracey, Ears Pearce, Indie, Flying Fin, Rhino, Joel 'Doobs' Duberley and 'Shaquille' O.Neal
A few memories to share - Hamish was dressed for the terrain, and potential invasion, in dads old army boots, by contrast Rhino turned up dressed for a 'dance-off' in white mesh-topped trainers. He had thrown dads advice to the wind and paid the price with wet socks and frozen toes. Cake produced a hair sculpture to rival JEdward which he then struggled to get under the height restrictions to exit the car park and JSD slipped over in the mud and landed immediately into press-ups which impressed Ed enormously.
Sponsorship money is being rounded up now, plus optional contributions from non-attendees (before Mrs Tinson gets hold of you for your own event) then a total can be published.
Well done to everyone yesterday, from the chat on the way round everyone seemed to enjoy it, thank you all for making it a most enjoyable few hours.
