In life and particularly in sport, sometimes a team has to admit they had an off day. They may sometimes also have to accept that the opposition were simply the better team. For both to occur at the same time is the misfortune that befell the U15s as they welcomed Bromsgrove RFC U15s to Blind Lane for the quarter final of the North Midlands Cup.
Against a physically strong and finely tuned opposition, the U15s never got going despite 100% commitment from all involved, who consistently and across the team put their bodies on the line, in pursuit of turning things around. Even at 0-46 down and time up, the commitment shown by Evan to chase down the re-start kick and capitalise on an opposition mistake to pick up the ball for a deserved consolation try in the corner summed up the endeavour shown.
So not our day, but one from which the team will learn and carry forward to keep growing as individuals and most importantly as a team over the rest of the season. And good luck to Bromsgrove for the semi-final and maybe beyond.
