More Banta than Santa – U12 Xmas Do

A great turn out on Friday night for the U12 Christmas Party at ERFC, Xmas jumpers as far as the eye could see.

Party games including Dandelion and Burdock pong (beer pong trainer for future years), heads and tails and a ‘plank’ competition for a brand new eye-pad – there may have been SOME confusion in the pre-game verbal advertising of that. A fiercely fought contest saw it down to 3 determined souls sweating it out. Geordy took a very creditable 3rd place leaving Hagrid and James equally intent on winning. After what seemed like an age watching, never mind on your elbows with the old 6-pack on fire, it was James who nicked it and is now the slightly bemused owner of a cotton wool square complete with gauze straps to hold it on his head.

Eating for cheating – some late changes of opinion in the heads and tails game earned a few of the lads a pickled egg punishment. This may have overtaken press-ups as the coaching tool of choice, it doesn’t take many, as the French say ‘One egg is Un Oeuf’

Another old favourite, ‘circumnavigate the table without touching the ground’ drew a crowd, gravity too strong for some, a few could just about get round but Fin Hawkins and his long lost twin George Brett were lapping the thing for giggles. Wisely the dads gave it a swerve this year but only for financial reasons – be they certain physio bills or replacement costs….for example one slip from Bov and the French doors are over the balcony.

Once again the Rugby Mums did us proud, led this year by Mrs Mullen (Mighty-Mum) – a fantastic party buffet for the lads and even hot nibbles for the dads who were valiantly stopping the bar from toppling forwards.

A great night for a really great bunch of lads.

Have an outstanding Christmas everyone, see you all on January 3rd for training.
