Arthur Passed away 22nd June aged 99 after a life well lived.

Arthur, fiercely independent, was Evesham Sports Club longest serving supporter and was always by our side in his Moto GP scooter whether watching rugby or bowls and sipping his favourite beer.

We all knew and had Arthur on our sleeve. He cared deeply about our club and supported us from the side lines to the last.

One of his enduring legacies are our beautiful grounds which he would have called Abbey Meadow. These grounds are testament to the decades of work he spent nurturing our pitches not only for Rugby but for Cricket, Hockey and the Sports Club as a whole.

One of our most famous rugby games at Blind Lane was against Bedford in 1986 in the national cup which featured the England Cap Martin Bayfield. We may have lost that game 3-9 but Bedford a top flight club at the time commented that this ‘was the best pitch’ they had ever played on.

Arthur’s commitment to our sports club is beyond words our greatest groundsman our longest and most loyal supporter. We have many happy memories sharing stories and sipping our favourites.

We will miss you dearly Arthur.

Arthur’s funeral will be held at the Vale Crematorium on Thursday 7th July 1:00pm followed by a celebration at the club afterwards.
