Evesham under 10’s travelled to Alcester where they played three consecutive games using the transitional pilot rules implemented by the RFU. Evesham adapted very well to the change of game structure, focusing on their tackling and passing skills. The first match saw Evesham push forward in the first half of the match with tries from Sam Hayler (3) and Ashley Symonds (1). Dogged determination from Jack Moss and George Bell and some great tackles from Ben Cross saw Evesham retain their lead in the second half and win their match with further tries from Hayler (2).
In the second match Alcester rose to the challenge and started this match with some great teamwork which resulted in three tries. Evesham pulled back but by half time Alcester were still in the lead. Despite some great play from Tom Rowland and some tries from Jim Tegg (1), Hayler (2), Evesham were unable to pull it back and Alcester won 5 tries to 3.
In their final game, two men down due to injuries and with no subs, Evesham showed their true colours, by playing opposite a full Alcester squad. They took the lead from the whistle with tries from Kaylar Raymer (1), Hayler (2) and by the end of the first half were three tries up. Archie McIvor, despite taking a hard knock, carried on playing and had a fantastic run which resulted in a try by Symonds. The final score of 6-5 to Evesham was extremely well deserved and all the following players certainly deserve the accolade of person of the match for their outstanding commitment to their team and fellow players; Archie McIvor, Jack Moss, George Bell, Jonathan Tarring, Kaylar Raymer, Jim Tegg and Ashley Symonds.
