Under 10s Evesham v Malvern

Evesham under 10’s played their hearts out in in a home fixture against Malvern, which resulted in them playing some of the best rugby we have seen all season. Evesham set the pace in the first match with some great collaborative work from Ashley Symonds and Tommy which resulted in Samuel Hayler scoring the first try of the game. Relentless Malvern, pushed harder and, despite some good tackles from Ryan Thomas and Aiden West, were able to even the score before half time. But Evesham came back fighting with dogged determination, after a great breakaway run from Oliver French Evesham continued to apply pressure and with the help of Jack Moss, Ben Cross and Oliver Hyett, Tommy was able to land the winning try of the match

In the second match Malvern rose to the challenge and started this match with some great teamwork which resulted in them taking the lead before half time. Undeterred Evesham pulled back with some fantastic defensive play that kept Malvern at bay. A great run from Myles Cook nearly ended in a try but it was Alistair Righton who landed the final try that resulted in the two teams drawing in their second match.

In the third game Malvern scored and took the lead, but it wasn’t long before the tenacity of Ashley Symonds shone through and with the help of Righton and French evened the scores before half time. A scrum resulted in a further try to Malvern who took the lead with minutes to go. But Evesham wanted this and by working as a team, Samuel Hayler grabbed a try just before the final whistle.

Malvern took the lead in the final game and despite pressure from Evesham they managed to retain their lead despite some great tackles from Oliver Turner, Archie McIvor, and Kaylar Raymer who narrowly missed scoring a try.
